Firestone Diamonds plc has a highly qualified management team with extensive experience in the exploration, evaluation and development of diamond projects.
Mr Meier has over 30 years of experience in investment banking with specialist knowledge of the mining sector. He is Chairman of Anglo Pacific Group plc, the London listed Natural Resources Royalty Company. He also acts as a Senior Adviser to Bacchus Capital Advisers, an advisory boutique and in various other advisory roles from time to time. Mr Meier headed up the investment banking activities for RBC Capital Markets in Europe and Asia and drove a major expansion of RBC’s European presence. Prior to this role, he headed up RBC’s activities in the Metals and Mining sector in Europe, Africa and Asia for many years, and continues to enjoy strong relationships within the sector. He also served as a Director on the Board of RBC’s main operating subsidiary in Europe. He has an MA in Natural Sciences from Cambridge University.
Mr de Pretto is a qualified metallurgist with more than 35 years’ experience in the diamond industry. He has a proven track record having worked for De Beers, Anglo American, Diamcor and the Zimbabwe Consolidated Diamond Company. He has vast experience in research, project management, operational management, technical support and senior management roles culminating in the post of Chief Executive Officer. He holds a BSc (Eng) and an MSc (Eng) degree from the University of the Witwatersrand. He is a registered Professional Engineer and a fellow of the Southern African Institute of Mining and Metallurgy.
Mr Johnson has over 25 years of experience in the natural resources sector, 18 of which were in the mining industry where he held various senior positions within Rio Tinto plc, including on its executive committee from 2003 to 2009. From 2003 to 2007, Mr Johnson had overall responsibility for Rio’s global diamond business which accounted for over US$1 billion in revenue and operated across three continents. In 2007, Mr Johnson was appointed head of business resources, where he was part of the team responsible for the integration of Alcan Inc., following its acquisition in October 2007. In January 2010, Mr Johnson joined FTSE 250 oil and gas company, BG Group plc, as General Manager of Strategy and Portfolio Development. Mr Johnson holds an MBA in Finance and a BSc degree in Mathematics and Operational Research. Mr Johnson is Resource Capital Fund VI L.P.’s nominated non‑executive director of the Company.
Mr Stirzaker has over 30 years' commercial experience, mainly in mining finance and mining investment. He began his career in Sydney as a Chartered Accountant with KPMG, having obtained a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Cape Town. He moved into investment banking with Wardley James Capel (part of the HSBC Group) and then Kleinwort Benson Limited in London. From 1993 to 2007 he was part of the natural resource advisory and investment firm, RFC Group Limited, where he became Joint Managing Director. He has also been a shareholder and Director of Tennant Metals Pty Limited, a privately-owned physical-metal trader and investor, and was the Finance Director of Finders Resources Limited, an ASX-listed company producing copper in Indonesia. In 2010, Mr Stirzaker joined the private equity mining fund manager, Pacific Road Capital Management as a Partner. The Pacific Road Resources Fund II is a major shareholder of Firestone Diamonds, with Mr Stirzaker appointed as its new nominee on the Firestone Board.
Mr Bosma is a qualified geologist with more than 25 years’ experience in the mining industry, 14 years of which were in the diamond industry where he worked for De Beers. Before joining Firestone Diamonds, Paul was General Manager of a joint venture between De Beers and Anglo Gold Ashanti whereafter he worked as a Vice President for Pala Investments, an international mining investment fund based in Switzerland. Paul Joined Firestone Diamonds in July 2014 and has been General Manager of the Liqhobong mine for the last 2 years where he successfully managed the ramp up to full commercial production. He holds BSc (Honours) and MSc degrees as well as an MBA from the University of Cape Town’s Graduate School of Business.
