Firestone Diamonds is a new diamond producer and recently achieved its ambition of building and operating a world-class diamond mine, supplying rare rough diamonds to an expanding global market. It’s flagship asset, the Liqhobong Diamond Mine, located in the Lesotho Highlands, commenced production in 2016.
Firestone’s vision is to become a mid-tier diamond producer and preferred and trusted partner of choice by all of its stakeholders and local communities alike.
The Liqhobong Diamond Mine is owned 75% by Firestone and 25% by the Government of the Kingdom of Lesotho. The Company commenced construction in July 2014 and achieved first production in October 2016. Once in commercial production the mine will produce up to 1 million carats per annum.
Lesotho is emerging as one of Africa’s significant new diamond producers, and also hosts the Letseng Mine as well as the Kao Diamond Mine and the Mothae development project.
Firestone also owns the BK11 mine in Botswana which remains under care and maintenance.
